We have been living in Chestermere since 1991.  We know this market inside out.
While Chestermere was once a quiet summer village it has now become the fastest growing community in Canada.  While the lake and the golf course were the first attractions the newer developments have taken advantage of the accessibility to water to create ponds, water falls and streams throughout the town.  There are now 12,000 residents in Chestermere.  Housing choices are available from apartment condos, to townhouses, a wide variety of single family homes, villas and of course a wide selection of estate homes both on and off of the lake.

The lake is 3.5 miles long by 1/2 mile wide and covers 750 acres. The Bow River feeds the lake with mountain, spring and glacier run-off. Chestermere Lake has a complete water change every five days. For comparison Pine Lake in central Alberta has a complete water change once every 200 years. Chestermere is a manmade irrigation lake. To prevent ice damage to docks and boat houses in the Winter the water is lowered.

The town of Chestermere is 5 miles from city limits and 10 miles from downtown Calgary.   Downtown is accessible by #1 or 1A highway in less than 20 minutes. Alternate access is available from East Chestermere Drive to Glenmore Trail.

The lake offers many recreational opportunities for all seasons. In the summer, there is water-skiing sailing, fishing, windsurfing, canoeing, swimming. In the fall and spring you will enjoy the migrating birds, walks along the shoreline and the quietness of the community. It is also the time to become involved in the many clubs and activities in the community. A two lane bike path connects to all the paths in Calgary. The ice-fishing in the winter has seen many trophy fish caught. There is skating on the lake and on the ponds on the golf course and in West Creek, Westmere and Rainbow Falls.

The Chestermere community has three service stations, three convenience stores, seven restaurants, a full service Safeway,  3 liquor stores, 3 hair dressers, 2 barbers, 3 dentists, a veterinarian, two chiropractors, two family physician, an optometrist, a nail studio, a Bargain Store, a hardware novelty store, a pet store, two dog groomers, a video store, a dance studio, Curves, two health clubs, a home decorating store,  two banks. There are 3 shopping strips. There is an 18 hole golf course with a full clubhouse, with restaurant, pro-shop and health club.  The sports complex has 2 arenas, 4 sheets of curling ice, a hall for dancing lessons and aerobics, and meeting rooms for ceramics, play school, guides and cubs etc.  There is  a local  R.C.M.P. detachment, a local  fire department with backup from Calgary.   Chestermere has an active seniors group.
